road to OM NOWARA !!!?

Hi everyone this is Karam from learning team/CSR PBOX, this is what happened to two of your friends in Aiesec Jordan/ LC Amman a day ago:

((Leen & Karam on a sunny day went for an interview with a company called Sayegh Group, in a phone call they were told that the place is somewhere very… very… and I mean very far… so they meet together on the 6th circle and took a bus to Raghadan, not knowing what this day is hiding for them. The only clue they had was that the company is close to a place called OM NOWARA but so as to go there they had to pass by the TEN BRIDGES AREA , so in Raghadan they kept looking for a bus that had OM NOWARA written on it…and suddenly they found one, so they took the bus… the road to OM NOWARA was strange and buildings started to disappear slowly , Karam and Leen started to feel that they are really far now… out of a sudden a child was going to jump from the bus but the control caught him and then, with a smile full of brightness, he said: (sho bedak togtol 7alak?) :do you want to die? So the child smiled back. while we went on a tour in OM NOWARA we discovered that people of OM NOWARA are HAPPY J , and the journey continued…the bus stopped and they went out to pick a taxi to go to the Sayegh Group which is even farther than OM NOWARA (ya3ni near the north pole) , the taxi dropped them at the Sayegh Group in front of a huge MAGICAL GATE what Leen & Karam called (lord of the rings gate), till now they don’t know how this gate opened (really) , they got in and went to the person they where supposed to interview, who by the way was amused of how they finally got there (Aiesecers).
After the interview was over, successfully, they wanted to go back, but near the north pole there were no taxis or buses and the company couldn’t provide them with any help so they decided to go back walking to where they can find civilization…in a desperate call of need they decided to HITCHHIKE !!!! and so was done they stopped a car and with a very helpful stranger they took a ride back to OM NOWARA using a free mean of transportation, it’s a skill @ers should develop after a while…back to OM NOWARA, our friends discovered the beauty of that place…laughing they went back to Raghadan ,which by the time was filled with grocery and clothing markets, and from there got back to western Amman safely…but very hungry, because the trip took them 4 hours, the end)).

It was an adventure that Leen and I enjoyed and whether the target was far or not we have put our efforts to achieve it, and proudly we did…wishing the best of luck to everyone in their interviews. See you soon and take care.

Research confirms AIESEC leaders' unique characteristics

Hello All,
How are you doing?
I am back from Turkey. It was perfect.
and I hope that everyone is doing fine...
I received this from one of my friends and wanted to share with you...
Have a look:
----------------
Research confirms AIESEC leaders' unique characteristics.

A research paper recently presented at the International Positive Psychology Summit in Washington DC, United States, shows that AIESEC members possess distinctive leadership strengths. The research study conducted by David J. Pollay, Founder and President ofthe Momentum Project and Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, backs up the claim that AIESEC has been making since its inception in 1948-that its members develop strong and unique leadership characteristics. Recognized by the United Nations as the largest student organization in the world, AIESEC offers 5000 leadership opportunities on local, national, and international level to its 22,000 members annually. By providing the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential to have positive impact on society, AIESEC's members are offered unparallel experiences for leadership development. Pollay's research shows that AIESEC leaders possess distinct leadership characteristics when compared to the peers their age and education. It strengthens the argument of how AIESEC has been - and still is - developing leaders with unique set of strengths valued across culture."AIESEC leaders scored significantly higher than their peers on the dimension of hope, curiosity, perseverance, leadership, teamwork, fairness, zest, bravery, forgiveness, and perspective," said Pollay, an AIESEC alumni himself.Sixty-two national presidents of AIESEC or their recently elected successors- who was elected by the general membership of their country to serve for one year - took part in the research. All of whom are young adults, 48 ofthem have a university degree. Participants were asked to do questionnaire based on the VIA-IS (Values InAction Inventory of Strengths) test on-line. VIA-IS is a 240-itemself-report questionnaire that uses a five-point Likert scale to measure the degree to which respondents endorse strength-relevant statements about themselves. The score of the AIESEC sample were compared to 17,400 respondents of the same age and education in the United States. The test developed by Dr. Christopher Peterson, and Dr. Martin E.G. Seligmanin 2001, two of the most notable researchers on Positive Psychology. The same test has been taken by more than 600,000 people around the world to measure their leadership strengths profile. David Pollay's research paper was presented in the 2006 Gallup International Positive Psychology Summit in Washington DC, the United States. Positive Psychology seeks discoveries of how individuals might lead a more positive and productive life around their strengths."

I am back!

HELLO,

It's been a while since I wrote my first post on the AIESEC Expnasion to Jordan blog! A lot has
happened since then...

Well, I graduated from the university. I haven't started looking for a job because I want to stay with AIESEC for as long as possible, so many opportunities are waiting for me with AIESEC and the rest is up to me.

There's also the elections for MC... It was AWESOME. The speeches were great and I feel really proud to be working with such fine people! JUST WONDERFUL.

Also, I did two business meetings with AIESEC about the CSR research I already talked about. Needless to say, I was also very nervous for the first interview, I mean VERY nervous. Of course it didn't help that I had a cold and my voice was beginning to disappear(and it's gone now folks). But now that I look back at it, I have no idea why I was! It was very smooth, the person we conducted the meeting with was very interested and there is a high chance he might take an intern! If this meeting wasn't good, which meeting would be! And by the time for the second interview I could see the difference! I was more relaxed and I think I LOVE meetings now! They are so cool!

I guess this is it for now... It was nice reading all your comments about my first post, Keep them coming... I even got a comment from AUSTRALIA... Can you imagine!
